Introduction

QuickSnip is a text expansion tool for Chrome that helps you type faster by expanding shortcuts into full text templates. We built QuickSnip with privacy as a core principle. This policy explains exactly what data we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.

Data We Collect

Account Information

When you sign up using Google OAuth, we collect:

• Email address (required for account identification)
• Name (optional, from your Google profile)
• Profile picture (optional, from your Google profile)

We do not receive or store your Google password. Authentication is handled securely through Google's OAuth 2.0 protocol.

Your Snippets

The shortcuts and text templates you create are stored differently based on your plan:

Free Plan: Your snippets are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's local storage. They never leave your device and we never see them.

Pro Plan: Your snippets are encrypted and synced to our secure cloud database so you can access them across devices. We store the shortcut text and expansion text you provide.

Payment Information

If you upgrade to Pro, payment processing is handled by Stripe. We store:

• Subscription status (free or paid)
• Subscription start date
• Stripe customer ID (for billing management)

We never see or store your credit card details. All payment data is securely handled by Stripe, a PCI-compliant payment processor.

Usage Data

We collect minimal technical information to keep the service running:

• Extension authentication tokens (JWT, short-lived)
• API request logs (for debugging and security)

We do NOT track which websites you visit, what you type outside of snippet management, or any browsing behavior.

How We Use Your Data

• Provide the service: Authenticate your account, sync your snippets across devices (Pro only), and expand your shortcuts.
• Process payments: Manage your Pro subscription and billing through Stripe.
• Customer support: Respond to your questions and troubleshoot issues.
• Security and fraud prevention: Monitor for suspicious activity and protect your account.

We will never sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Data Security

• Encryption: All data transmitted between your browser and our servers uses HTTPS encryption.
• Secure Authentication: OAuth 2.0 through Google ensures your credentials are never exposed to us.
• Cloud Encryption: Pro snippets stored in the cloud are encrypted at rest.
• Short-lived Tokens: Extension authentication tokens expire regularly to minimize risk.

Data Retention

• Account data: Retained as long as your account is active.
• Snippets: Free plan snippets are stored locally on your device only. Pro plan snippets remain in our cloud until you delete them or close your account.
• Billing records: Kept for tax and accounting compliance as required by law, typically 7 years.

Your Rights

You have full control over your data:

• Access: View all your data through the dashboard.
• Modify: Edit or delete your snippets anytime from the extension.
• Delete: Request full account deletion by emailing support@quicksnip.store. We will permanently delete all your data within 30 days.
• Export: Request a copy of your data by contacting support.

Third-Party Services

QuickSnip integrates with the following third-party services:

• Google OAuth: For secure authentication. Review Google's Privacy Policy.
• Stripe: For payment processing. Review Stripe's Privacy Policy.

These services have their own privacy policies. We only share the minimum data necessary to provide their functionality.

Children's Privacy

QuickSnip is not intended for users under 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us immediately at support@quicksnip.store.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we'll notify you via email. Continued use of QuickSnip after changes means you accept the updated policy.
